In Central and Southside Virginia the Children's Miracle Hospitals are Centra Lynchburg General Hospital and Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital. Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital has a Level III Neonatal Nursery making it a referral center for the region. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals provides critical medial equipment to the Intensive Care Nursery, such as state-of-the art isolettes to keep prematurely born babies alive until they can thrive on their own, heart and breathing monitors, medication pumps, bili beds and more. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has also provided a special neonatal transport vehicle equipped to handle twins, to bring prematurely born babies from the greater Centra service area to the Intensive Care Nursery. Approximately 125 transports are conducted annually by this service with a team speciallly trained for high-rish transports.
Centra Lynchburg General Hospital is the location of the Pediatric Center, moved from Virginia Baptist in the summer of 2011. The Center features 11 private rooms, in-room sleeping accommodations for parents, pediatrician stationed on-site, state-of-the-art security system, wireless cardiac and respiratory monitors in every room, and a colorful, child-friendly environment for children and their families. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals raised funds to create the Center, provides medical equipment to treat the patients, and gives recreational items to make children's stays more comfortable.
The Centra hospitals offer Fetal Echocardiography, Genetics, Pediatric Allergy, Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Neurodevelopment Outpatient Clinics.
