1. Help as many children as possible by raising funds for children's hospitals
2. Keep funds in the community in which they were raised to help local children
The organization was founded by Marie Osmond and her family, celebrity friend John Schneider, and Mick Shannon and Joe Lake, who had a vision of a nationwide telethon to raise funds for kids in the hospitals. Today, in addition to Marie and John, Jennifer Lopez, Kristin Bell, Chris Pine, Steve Young and other celebrities have joined CMN Hospitals to help the kids.
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals’ most recognizable symbol is its red and yellow Miracle Balloon icon. There are nonprofit 170 hospitals treating children across North America which make up Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Our local affiliation with CMN Hospitals began in 1986. Our local member hospitals are Centra Virginia Baptist and Centra Lynchburg General Hospitals.
CMN Hospitals has raised more than $5 billion since its beginning, most of that donated one dollar or two at a time. Groups and individuals are always welcome to help with fundraising events or put on their own, and CMN Hospitals offers many ways to donate so we can continue to meet our mission.
